Ronja Abel

Vice President, Public Affairs
RONJA ABEL IS VICE PRESIDENT OF PUBLIC AFFAIRS AT LEFT HOOK.

Ronja has spent the last decade advising Democratic candidates, nonprofits and government agencies on communications strategy and public relations. Prior to joining Left Hook, Ronja was Deputy Director of Campaign Communications at EMILY’s List, advising federal and gubernatorial candidates across the country on communications strategy during an election year where reproductive rights took center stage, and helped shape the national media narrative surrounding the fight for abortion rights after the fall of Roe v. Wade.

Ronja’s love for politics and campaign work blossomed out west in Montana, where she worked her way through state government from file clerk at the Department of Revenue to Communications Director and a senior advisor to former Governor Steve Bullock. Known for her cool head and calm demeanor, she guided Bullock’s executive branch communications team through two hard-fought legislative sessions, a record-setting wildfire season, two government shutdowns, and the chaos of the Trump Administration.

After helping re-elect Bullock to a second term as governor, Ronja led the effort to increase his national political profile as a popular and progressive red-state executive for several years before his 2020 presidential bid, and served as Communications and Policy Director for Bullock’s Lt. Governor Mike Cooney’s 2020 gubernatorial campaign.

Ronja lives in Washington state with her two adopted cats, Huckleberry and T’Challa, and in her spare time you can catch her on a golf course or paddleboarding the Columbia River.
