Ronja Abel

Vice President, Public Affairs

Ronja is a Democratic communications strategist with over 13 years of experience advising elected officials, candidates, nonprofit organizations and government agencies on political communications and media relations.

As Left Hook’s Vice President of Public Affairs, Ronja helps clients navigate the complexities of social and political issue advocacy through a strategic communications lens. She leads our work with clients to develop and execute targeted communications plans, craft compelling messages and issue narratives, navigate public relations crises, and secure impactful media coverage in local, state and national outlets.

Prior to joining Left Hook, Ronja advised federal and gubernatorial candidates endorsed by EMILYs List on communications and earned media strategy across the country. Working with national journalists, she helped shape the media narrative on abortion rights after the fall of Roe v. Wade and centered reproductive freedom as a winning issue for Democrats.

Ronja’s passion for political communications began out west in Montana, where she served as Communications Director and a senior advisor to former Governor Steve Bullock and led communications efforts for multiple Democratic candidates and nonprofits.
